I just finished writing about Bear Grylls and his Man vs. Wild show on Discovery Channel, when it struck me was a great name he has.
Bear? For a guy who traipses around the world seeing if and how he can survive in the wild? Wow! Besides, Grylls as a last name is a perfect foil for his first name.
Props to his mum and dad.
I know it’s kinda silly, but as I come across other great names of people in the Sports, Outdoor, Athletics or Recreation industries, I’m gonna show them some love here. Yup, just for the heck of it. 
I have to admit it: I love Man vs. Wild.
I saw my first episode in a hotel room in Oakland, California, and I was soon mesmerized. Whether Bear Grylls, the star of the Discovery Channel show, was dropped off in the arctic, on a deserted tropical island or deep within the Amazon rain forest, his weeklong struggles against nature and the elements were fascinating.
The few times my wife and I have both caught an episode together, we’ve wondered aloud afterward if Grylls is actually on his own or not. Turns out, the answer is most of the time.
